About

Born and raised in Miramar, Florida, I moved to New York City in 2009 to attend The City College of New York and take advantage of all New York has to offer.

Now I’m equipped with a Master’s degree in Journalism from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and a world of knowledge about the city. As a journalist, my work can be seen in UPTOWN Magazine, Parlour Magazine, New York Amsterdam NewsNew York Daily NewsThe Boombox, ComicsAlliance, COMPLEX, Comic Book Resources, Black Girl Nerds and more.

I am also a ‘jill’ of many trades.

For six years I’ve worked as a freelance graphic designer. Some of my clients have been The Embrace Girls Foundation, Mayor Shirley Gibson (of Miami Gardens), The Intervarsity Christian Fellowship of CCNY, The University of Florida’s Omega Psi Phi Chapter, The Viva Ville Sports Show and WCCR 590AM.

I’m also growing to be more adept with my DSLR. My photos has been featured in the New York Daily News, RollingOut.com, The Boombox and more.

There is a South Korean drama series called “Mirae’s Choice,” or “Marry Him If You Dare,” depending on the translation, where the main character Mirae, a journalist, expressed that she wanted to pour a bottle of clean water into a polluted ocean. When I heard that, I found the exact embodiment of why I chose to be a writer. One article or photo may not change the world, but little by little, collectively, they do.
